Privacy Policy
This page explains what Hello I’m Sorry stores and why.
What we store
- The letter you write: the first name it is for, your message, the name you sign with, the mood and an optional song link.
- A one way hashed fingerprint of your connection, used only to stop spam and repeat votes. We do not store your raw IP address with your letter.
- If you subscribe to name alerts, your email address and the name you follow.
What we do not do
- We do not ask for an account.
- We do not sell or share your data.
- We do not show who wrote a letter beyond the name the writer chose.
Your controls
- After writing, you get a secret link to edit or delete your letter at any time.
- Every alert email has an unsubscribe link.
- If a letter is about you and you want it gone, use the Remove a message page.
Cookies and third parties
We store your light or dark mode choice in your browser. Google Fonts are used for the typefaces. A song player from YouTube or Spotify only loads when you press play. Ads or analytics, if added later, may use their own cookies and will be listed here.
